Petrified Palmwood Fossil Pendant, Wire Woven Copper & Brass OOAK

This rustic wire woven pendant was handcrafted with a gorgeous petrified palmwood cabochon and copper and brass wire. This fossilized wood gemstone displays beautiful bluish gray, cream, beige, and tan patterns created through the natural fossilization process. The intricate orbicular patterning is completely natural and makes this one-of-a-kind pendant impossible to duplicate.

I am especially pleased with the way the antiqued finish brought out the warm reds of the copper and the golden highlights of the brass while emphasizing the woven wirework. The result is an earthy, rustic pendant with strong art nouveau influences and a distinctive handcrafted character.

Like all of my work, this pendant is fully finished on both sides. The back features one of my signature wire illustrations. In this case, a whimsical little vine creature with a curly mop of hair emerged from the design as I worked. I enjoy treating the back of every pendant as a second canvas, creating hidden details for the wearer to discover and share. Despite the elaborate wirework, the back remains comfortable to wear because every wire is carefully positioned with both beauty and practicality in mind.

I offer a high quality adjustable satin slipknot cord or a handcrafted antiqued copper chain flat link chain.  (See that chain photographed separately on the white background.) The cord ends are finished and sealed, and Hypo Cement is injected into the knots to help keep them secure. My copper chains are assembled by hand and feature all nickel free and hypoallergenic materials. The links are soldered, and the jump rings are hammered for strength and filed flush to help prevent slippage.

Copper chains include a 3 inch extender chain. Please select the shortest length you would like the necklace to hang, and you will be able to lengthen it by up to 3 inches. The most commonly selected length for my pendants is 17 inches.

My normal shipping turnaround is 1–3 business days. Please allow an additional 2–3 business days if you order a cord or chain so I can create and attach it for you.

This pendant was handcrafted by me with meticulous attention to detail in my nonsmoking studio in scenic Union, Washington. This is the exact pendant you will receive. It comes with a jewelry satchel for storage and a surprise gift.

Petrified palmwood forms when ancient palm trees are gradually replaced by minerals over millions of years. Unlike traditional petrified wood, palmwood often displays distinctive circular and lace-like patterns created by the fossilized vascular structure of the original tree.
