Peacock Ore Crystal Pendant Necklace featuring rough bornite and chalcopyrite wire wrapped in oxidized copper.
This one-of-a-kind gemstone pendant was handcrafted with a colorful rough peacock ore crystal, copper wire, and copper chain. This specimen most likely contains a combination of bornite and chalcopyrite, with flashes of silver, gold, cobalt blue, purple, and pink. No two stones are exactly alike, and this pendant is truly one of a kind.
The chain adjusts from approximately 16 to 19 inches. All materials are nickel free and hypoallergenic.
I have additional peacock ore crystals available, so if you'd like a similar piece with a different chain length, feel free to contact me.
Each piece is handmade in my non-smoking studio and shipped with plenty of padding, insurance, and a surprise gift.
About Peacock Ore (Bornite & Chalcopyrite)
Some sources claim bornite and chalcopyrite may be potentially toxic because they contain copper. Many commonly used gemstones also contain copper, including turquoise and malachite. Like many minerals, the primary concern comes from inhaling or ingesting dust created during cutting, grinding, or polishing.
The National Institutes of Health classifies chalcopyrite dust as an irritant in occupational settings. During the creation of this pendant, I thoroughly cleaned the stone multiple times to remove any dust. Afterward, I sealed the finished piece with Renaissance Wax to help protect both the metal and the mineral from further oxidation.
The stone is clean, stable, and safe to wear. I know this sounds like a no-brainer, but I don't recommend letting small children chew on or suck on your jewelry. I feel ridiculous typing that. 😂
These are beautiful quality peacock ore specimens originally sourced from Ronn Webb.
