This is a spectacular raw, completely untreated and unheated aluminum-lithium lemon citrine crystal with a beautifully preserved termination and bright, glassy faces that allow you to gaze directly into its natural smoky yellow glow.

Sourced from Olkhovka in the Tyumenskaya Oblast’ of Russia’s Polar Urals, this is genuine Al:Li citrine — a rare variety of quartz colored by aluminum, lithium, and hydrogen within the crystal lattice.

Dichroism Test (How to Verify)

This crystal displays slight dichroism — meaning the color intensity changes depending on light direction.

To observe:

1. Open a white page on a flat-screen monitor.

2. Hold the crystal vertically with the flat m-faces toward the screen.

3. Rotate it 90 degrees horizontally.

You will see a noticeable shift in color intensity.

Only unheated aluminum-lithium citrine exhibits this subtle dichroism. Heat-treated amethyst does not.

How This Crystal Feels (My Personal Experience)

The energy in this crystal feels round to me rather than piercing like a laser wand. Shorter, broader crystals tend to radiate outward in a wide round beam, while longer ones with a taper feel more concentrated through the termination.

This one feels versatile and balanced. I would use it for meditation, holding at the solar plexus, setting it near me on selenite while I work, sleeping nearby, or incorporating into a wand or bold wire-wrapped pendant.

Because of its shape and feel, directionality is not overly critical with this piece.

Sizing Guidance 

Measurements are taken with slide calipers for accuracy. To accurately visualize scale, use a ruler to draw a rectangle using the listed length and width, then sketch the crystal inside it so it touches each side at least once. This shows how much of the overall length is in the tapered termination and how much of the width includes natural bumps or irregularities. 

This gives a far more realistic sense of the crystal’s true presence than numbers alone. 

My pricing is calculated by weight using a quality-based price per gram. For larger pieces, I reduce the per-gram rate to keep them more accessible.

Citrine vs. Heat-Treated Amethyst (Short Version)

Natural citrine is rare.

True citrine forms when aluminum, lithium, and hydrogen within quartz are exposed to natural radiation. Most “citrine” on the market is heat-treated amethyst, which turns golden, amber, or orange when heated.

General indicators:

• Smoky + yellow together usually indicates natural formation

• Bright orange, amber, or Madeira tones are almost always heat-treated

• Natural citrine ranges from pale lemon to olive or smoky yellow

• Subtle dichroism appears only in unheated Al:Li citrine

Madeira citrine is always heated.

Care Instructions

Citrine and smoky quartz can slowly fade with prolonged exposure to strong light or heat.

• Avoid direct sunlight

• Do not leave in a hot car

• Store in a dark place when not in use

Untreated citrine does not require energetic cleansing. If you choose to charge it, I recommend selenite or moonlight rather than sunlight.

Your crystal will ship protected in foam from my non-smoking studio.
