Raw natural citrine crystal pendant necklace handcrafted with a genuine unheated phantom citrine candle quartz point and wire wrapped in oxidized copper.
Unlike most citrine sold today, which is actually heat-treated amethyst, this is genuine natural aluminum-lithium citrine. This rough crystal features a naturally terminated point, subtle pale yellow coloration, beautiful white kaolinite phantom formations, and a delicate candle quartz growth habit created by countless tiny crystals growing around the parent crystal.
This particular crystal reminds me of a blend between the angel phantom quartz from Sichuan, China and the natural citrines from Brazil. The energy feels gentler, more introspective, and more focused on inner transformation than material goals.
The crystal contains soft plumes of white kaolinite sealed beneath a layer of clear to pale yellow citrine. Tiny secondary crystals decorate the surface along the crystal faces, creating a subtle candle quartz effect. A small amount of natural golden iron staining adds additional character.

The pendant is permanently integrated into the chain so the clasp cannot work its way around to the front while wearing it. The entire piece has been patinated and polished to highlight the Art Nouveau inspired wirework details.
I designed this pendant to be sturdy, comfortable, and practical for everyday wear. The swirls are kept tight to reduce snagging, the stone is securely wrapped, and all connections have been carefully finished.

Citrine vs Heat-Treated Amethyst
Natural citrine is a yellow variety of quartz colored by aluminum and lithium that have been exposed to naturally occurring radiation within the earth. Many natural citrines also contain smoky quartz components because the chemistry that produces citrine and smoky quartz is closely related.
Most "citrine" sold commercially is actually heat-treated amethyst. While natural heating can occur occasionally in nature, the overwhelming majority of heated citrine on the market is produced by humans.
One of the reasons I became interested in natural citrine years ago is that genuine citrine and heat-treated amethyst are often treated as if they are identical stones when they are not. Natural citrine has its own appearance, geological history, and energetic character.
Metaphysical Properties of Natural Citrine
(These properties refer to aluminum/lithium citrine rather than heat-treated amethyst.)
Natural citrine is known for prosperity, abundance, optimism, confidence, motivation, and manifestation. It is strongly connected with the solar plexus chakra and is traditionally used to help align a person with their true will.
What I personally find interesting about this crystal is that its energy feels more focused on inner healing and understanding than outward achievement. When we find ourselves repeating the same patterns or feeling stuck, sometimes the real work begins by looking inward and identifying the beliefs, wounds, habits, or energetic patterns that may be keeping us in place. To me, this crystal carries a gentle sense of hopefulness and encouragement during that process.
Natural citrine is traditionally considered one of the few stones that does not accumulate negative energy and therefore does not require cleansing in the same way many other crystals do.
Caring for Natural Citrine
Although natural citrine is generally more stable than rose quartz, amethyst, and heat-treated citrine, prolonged exposure to strong light can still gradually fade its color.
To help preserve your crystal:
- Avoid prolonged direct sunlight
- Store in a dark location when not in use
- Keep in the included storage pouch
- Avoid excessive heat
- Do not leave in a hot vehicle
For cleansing and charging, I recommend selenite, moonlight, or cool water rather than sunlight.
