Mica Schist & Garnet Pendant Necklace, Wire Wrapped Metamorphic Rock

This one-of-a-kind pendant was handcrafted with a natural mica schist specimen containing two garnets that I collected at Quesnel Lake in British Columbia, Canada. The sparkling mica catches the light beautifully, while the garnets remain embedded in the stone just as nature created them. I left the specimen largely untouched so you can enjoy the natural texture, sparkle, and character of the rock.

This piece is especially fun for rockhounds, geologists, mineral collectors, and anyone who appreciates unusual natural stone jewelry. Unlike a polished cabochon, this pendant celebrates the beauty of a real field-collected metamorphic rock specimen. The front features flowing copper scrollwork, while the back showcases the twisted structural wire that securely holds the stone in place.

The pendant has been handcrafted with pure copper wire, then oxidized and polished to highlight the details of the wirework. A protective coating of Renaissance Wax helps preserve the finish. All materials are hypoallergenic and nickel free.

If you would like to add a matching necklace, I offer an optional high quality adjustable satin slipknot cord or a handcrafted antiqued copper chain. The cord ends are melted into neat balls, and Hypo Cement is injected into the knots to help keep them secure. My copper chains are assembled by hand using nickel free, hypoallergenic materials. The chain links are soldered for strength, and the clasp and extender chain are connected with custom wire wrapped links accented with coordinating beads.

Copper chains include a 3 inch extender chain. Please select the shortest length you would like the necklace to hang, and you will be able to lengthen it by up to 3 inches. The most commonly selected length for my pendants is 17 inches.

My normal shipping turnaround is 1–3 business days. Please allow an additional 2–3 business days if you order a cord or chain so I can create and attach it for you.

Your pendant will arrive in a cloth jewelry satchel and ship from my non-smoking studio in Union, Washington.

Mica schist is a metamorphic rock rich in mica minerals, which create the sparkling appearance visible throughout this specimen. The garnets formed during metamorphism and remain locked within the host rock, creating a fascinating snapshot of the geological processes that shaped this stone deep within the Earth.

For rock collectors, this piece is a wearable mineral specimen. For everyone else, it is simply a beautiful reminder that some of nature's best artwork takes millions of years to create.
