Many commonly used gemstones also contain copper, including turquoise and malachite. Like many minerals, the primary concern comes from inhaling or ingesting dust created during cutting, grinding, or polishing.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe National Institutes of Health classifies chalcopyrite dust as an irritant in occupational settings. During the creation of this pendant, I thoroughly cleaned the stone multiple times to remove any dust. Afterward, I sealed the finished piece with Renaissance Wax to help protect both the metal and the mineral from further oxidation.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe stone is clean, stable, and safe to wear. I know this sounds like a no-brainer, but I don't recommend letting small children chew on or suck on your jewelry.
